Principal's Message

Beth Cohen
Principal
Dear MacArthur Families and Community Members,
Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year at MacArthur Elementary! As I begin my second year as MacArthur’s principal, following six wonderful years at Prisk—and my twenty-sixth year in education overall—I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity to continue leading this extraordinary school community.
Throughout my career in the Long Beach Unified School District, I have served as a teacher, program coordinator, and assistant principal at the middle, K–8, and high school levels. These experiences have strengthened my belief that great schools are built on relationships, equity, and shared purpose.
As a leader, I am committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and joyful learning environment where every student feels known, supported, and inspired to grow. My passion for special education—also the focus of my doctoral research—continues to guide my work in ensuring that all students have access to the understanding and opportunities they deserve.
Together, we will build on MacArthur’s strong foundation of academic excellence, social-emotional growth, and spirited community pride. I’m especially proud of the dedicated and talented MacArthur staff, whose professionalism, collaboration, and heart make this school such a special place. Their commitment to excellence and genuine care for our students are at the core of everything we do.
I’m also incredibly grateful for our active PTA and the many families who dedicate their time and creativity to making MacArthur such a vibrant and connected place for children to learn. Thank you for your continued partnership and trust. I look forward to another year of learning, laughter, and success—together.
With warm regards and Eagle pride,
Dr. Beth Cohen
Principal, MacArthur Elementary School
